CAN YOU SEE ME NOW?
ONGOING COMMUNITY PROJECT
Aimed at assisting and bringing awareness to the homeless population in Richmond, VA. We also have plans to branch out to different cities in the future. The homeless and impoverished population ultimately lacks representation and a voice, but they have a story. Many of us may assist these individuals in our passing but are we really connecting them to our communities? Do we really care about their stories? “Can You See Me Now?” aims to bring these stories to life through visual art, community resourcing/connectivity and hopefully reshaping how the public “sees” the homeless in daily passing. The creative project contains four facets: bringing the stories to an artistic platform, bringing the visual art to the streets to assist with increasing awareness, providing resources to the community in need and inspiring the public to access local community programs.

ONGOING COMMUNITY PROJECT
IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK
How can we creatively solve issues in our communities?
How can we communicate with one another throughout the community?
How can we create a space where a community sounding board can be sustained?
We continue to connect art, culture, and community through various creative platforms. This tentative project aims to create community spaces in various areas. In these areas, residents can create, collaborate and correspond in a single space. The spaces will be walls in various areas of different cities, painted with chalkboard paint by our agency, collaborators and volunteers. These walls will primarily be areas laden with graffiti and areas where community beautification and conversation are essential; communities that are creatively underserved. The walls will create opportunities for residents to add to their communities through creative conversations and network towards different goals. By creating these walls, we also aim to establish infinite canvasses for residents/visitors to create as they see fit. Murals are an undeniable addition to any community but it limits the participation of the community members. These chalkboard walls will allow anyone to add to the space and to the overall community. The chalkboard walls will become living documents constantly changing to represent the community concerns and ongoing conversations.

As creatives, we each have a responsibility to be agents of change in our communities and the world.
